Multiple Views and Multiple Formats in Knowledge Management

Knowledge assets and the learning capacity of an organization are the main source of competitive advantage. Therefore, there is a growing interest in knowledge management (KM) and corporate memories (CM). The objectives of KM are to promote growth, communication, and preservation of knowledge in the organization. To support knowledge management a corporate memory must provide functionalities to store and retrieve information and knowledge of heterogeneous, multimedia formats, in a way that a variety of different users with different background and tasks can easily contribute and search for the relevant information in their actual working context. In particular, the paper deals with (the integration of) methods, techniques, and tools to support users of a CM to structure documents and data of multiple formats, and to query knowledge and information from multiple views.
